Course Description

With Australia’s relatively small population and fierce competition from other team sports, we can’t afford to let a potentially talented player pass through our identification and selection net. The ability to identify talent is a cornerstone for any successful development program. Knowing what to look for, and more importantly, being able to identify it within the myriad of competing forces is a skill that requires both knowledge and strict discipline. Anyone can observe a group of players and identify a dominant performer but how many can look beyond the obvious to find the hidden jewel?

The course is based around the following areas:

  • Great Talent is not necessarily Right talent – What are the critical competencies that drive success in football
  • What you see if not necessarily what you get – It’s not current performance that counts, it’s the story behind the performance
  • Never overrate certificates and never underrate character – Factors that will help a player’s drive to succeed, learning potential of the player, Mindset.
